Mrs. Laura King was born in Wayne County, Georgia in 1909. After graduating high school in 1927, King attended John D. Archibold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia for both schooling and to work. She also attended Savannah State College to obtain a degree in sociology. After a fulfilling nursing career, she retired in 1975.
