Mrs. Lena LaVette was born in Montezuma. LaVette attended Grady Hospital Nursing School. She also attended school at McMillan Hospital in Nashville, TN, where she completed her education in 1923. She eventually worked as a private duty nurse in Jacksonville, Florida, retiring in 1970.
