Mrs. Magnolia Brown was born in Toccoa, Georgia. Brown attended the Lamar School of Nursing in Augusta, Georgia in 1938 after attending Morris Brown College in Atlanta. After she graduated, she worked at Charity Hospital and quickly worked her way to being a charge nurse. She later spent several years as a military nurse working in the Army in Phoenix, Arizona at Fort Wachuka, until she returned to Charity Hospital.
