Mrs. Parnell Jones
Mrs. Parnell Jones was born in Savannah, Georgia. Jones went into nursing in 1946. She attended Savannah State College and then Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating, she worked as a nurse in the Venereal Disease Center at the United States Public Health Service in Alto, Georgia. Returning to Savannah, she worked at the Savannah Health Department operating clinics and providing support to schools for two decades. Before retiring, she started a program called a Genetic Hematology Clinic which supported sickle cell efforts in Effinghem and Chatha county.
