Mrs. Roberta Spencer was born in Crisp County, Cordele, Georgia in 1905. At the age of fifteen, Spencer started nursing school at The University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. As a private duty nurse, she took care of patients in their homes, often working as a doctor assistant. She later retired in 1970.
